When we talk about Stockholm, images of minimalist designs and immaculate streets usually come to mind. But this city has many layers, and some are only revealed when you\u2019re willing to understand its social and cultural fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the XperienceSthlm team, I had the opportunity to get to know the areas of R\u00e5gsved (with a long tradition of community and social resistance) and Sn\u00f6s\u00e4tra (which has become one of the largest open-air graffiti exhibitions in Europe).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R\u00e5gsved: from punk to community support networks<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the 1980s, punk found a place to grow here. Today, it\u2019s not only music that stands out, but above all the community life that has been woven into the neighbourhood. Discover Convictus<\/a>: an organisation that offers spaces and activities for people living in difficult situations (addiction, social exclusion or homelessness).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the tables were materials and posters that bore witness to this. The message \u201cSupport. Don\u2019t punish\u201d<\/strong> spoke directly to us: it\u2019s not about punishing or pointing fingers, but about creating support networks and recognising the humanity of each individual. In this space, the community fights stigma with creative and social tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sn\u00f6s\u00e4tra: murals in constant transformation<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After R\u00e5gsved, we went to Sn\u00f6s\u00e4tra<\/a>, a former industrial estate that has now become one of Europe\u2019s largest graffiti-covered complexes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colourful walls are much more than decoration: they\u2019re living language, constantly changing. Some murals last for months, others only days. What remains is the collective energy of a space that never stops. Walking among these walls, I understood that art can also be a way of taking up space and building community identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the aspects that surprised us most was the coexistence of murals and the natural spaces that surround the area. Between walls covered in graffiti, green fields and small community gardens open up. This speaks to us of the resilience of the territory: where there were once industrial wastelands and neglect, today there\u2019s creativity, life and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stockholm as a city is not just<\/em> the historic centre of Gamla Stan or the best-known islands in the archipelago. It is also R\u00e5gsved and Sn\u00f6s\u00e4tra: a neighbourhood that breathes community, rebellion and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The XperienceSthlm team came away feeling that this experience helps us and visitors alike to look beyond the clich\u00e9s and recognise the city in all its complexity and diversity. Because, at the end of the day, places are not just buildings or streets, they\u2019re the stories that are lived there and the people who make them possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
