My journey as a Marketing Intern at XperienceSthlm

What an insightful journey this one has been! My internship has officially come to an end. I’m Juliet and in this blog I will tell you all about my time as a Marketing Intern at XperienceSthlm.

To give you some context, last year I completed my degree in Marketing & Advertising back home in Barcelona. As someone passionate about traveling, I’ve always dreamed of living or studying abroad. It was back in 2021 when I visited Stockholm for the first time. I immediately fell in love with the city, the people, the culture, and the balanced lifestyle that the locals seemed to practice. That’s when I knew this was the place I wanted to live in.

Fast forward to my final year of school, I had the opportunity to go on an Erasmus exchange and complete an internship abroad. None of the cities offered by my school sparked my interest—I was so determined it was Stockholm where I wanted to be. I started looking for companies in Sweden, but my search came up short.

At the start of 2024, I made one of the boldest decisions of my life: I quit my job, packed my things, and moved to Stockholm with the goal of finding an internship where I could grow professionally in marketing and make Stockholm my new home. That’s when I came across XperienceSthlm. Tourism, diversity, and showcasing Stockholm, all while having fun. What else could I ask for? I reached out to the team, and the rest is history.

What was working at XperienceSthlm like?

If I had to describe my experience in just three words, they would be: dynamic, fun, and enriching! Over the course of my three months at the company, I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks, each offering new challenges and learning opportunities.

Right from my first week, I was thrown into the action by participating in the company’s Annual Hackathon. This was an incredible introduction to the company’s fast-paced and creative environment. Through the Hackathon, I learned about the entire process of bringing an idea to life—from initial brainstorming and ideation to finalizing and launching a product and testing it with customers.

While the experience was definitely challenging at first (being new to both the company and the industry), it gave me invaluable insight into how XperienceSthlm operates and the importance of adapting quickly to unpredictable situations. It also helped me break the ice with the team members. Collaborating with them so early on allowed me to see how diverse opinions and perspectives came together to create innovative ideas. By the end of the week, we developed two entirely new offers! Seeing how a team can combine creativity, expertise, and enthusiasm to bring ideas to life was truly inspiring.

After that eventful first week, I “officially” began my internship, working closely with Fran, the company’s CEO and my mentor. My primary role was as a Social Media Manager, where I was responsible for creating and scheduling digital content, as well as managing our social media platforms. Through this, I gained hands-on experience in understanding and measuring KPIs, crafting marketing campaigns using paid ads, and analyzing their performance.

However, my role went far beyond managing social media. I had the privilege of attending several insightful events alongside Fran, one of the most memorable being FemInvest’s “Fearless 2024” event in Stockholm. At this event, I was truly inspired by the energy and determination of empowered entrepreneurial women who are breaking barriers and conquering mountains in what is often still a male-dominated world.

Not everything during my internship involved being at the office—some of the most memorable moments happened outside of it. One of the amazing perks of being part of the team was the opportunity to participate in the experiences we offer to our customers. A particularly special one for me was the Hiking experience hosted by Jana. What a wise and fascinating person! It was such a fulfilling day, allowing me to connect deeply with nature, the team, and even myself.

Another highlight of my internship was hitting the streets of Stockholm for street interviews. As someone who considers themselves a bit shy and introverted, this task was one outside my comfort zone. I’m incredibly proud of myself for taking on the challenge, and also deeply grateful to Fran for her encouragement and support. While there’s still room to grow, this was a significant step for me, both personally and professionally.

To sum up, I am beyond thankful to have come across XperienceSthlm. I truly believe it wasn’t by chance. I’ve never been part of a company with such positive energy, an absolutely amazing and supportive team, and a shared passion for what they do.

If there’s one thing this company can undoubtedly take pride in, it’s their people. Thank you for this enriching experience, for teaching me that it’s okay to make mistakes, and for showing me that every idea and opinion matters.

I wish XperienceSthlm and the incredible team nothing but success. Vi ses! <3

P.S. Thank you for helping me become a bit more of a local, too! 🙂
